Evolution

Chameleon Creative or Chameleon Designs as it was initially named, was established in 1986. Originally located in Rokeby Road Subiaco with a staff of 4, Chameleon soon moved to larger premises in 276 Newcastle Street Perth with a doubling of the team numbers.

Major clients through these early years included The Joondalup Development Corporation, Jeans West and The WA Ballet Company.

Outstanding design was the central theme of all marketing material that Chameleon produced and an early promotional brochure promoted it as an essential investment for any company. A quote from an early Chameleon brochure (1986) reads..

"Good design is an essential element of your business. Whether you are selling service or products your clients or consumer is motivated by the quality of the image you project. Quality promotional material attracts clients for your service by demonstrating that your knowledge and experience will ensure that what is promised will be delivered. Thoughtful and creative packaging makes your product more desirable and appealing. Packaging which stands out creates awareness which in turn, leads to a greater market share and ultimately, greater profits. An investment in great design is an investment in the future of your enterprise. Because we understand the need for a coordinated approach to a company's public profile, we offer a complete, coordinated service".

Over the next 8 years Chameleon would venture further afield by firstly establishing an office in Bunbury and another office in Sydney. In 2002 the company produced it's most ambitious profile, a one hundred and twelve page book, simply entitled Chameleon Creative. The book featured branding work for The Australian Institute of Management, New Tel, MG Kailis, Leeuwin Estate, Lotterywest, Wesfarmers and thirty two other clients. The rapid expansion of Chameleon and the tyrrany of distance between the offices was for a time managed by Chameleon with some amazing work being produced from all three offices. It was the Dot Com crash and the closure of one of Chameleon's biggest clients in both Perth and Sydney that forced the company to rationalize its enterprise.

Subsequently both the Bunbury and then the Sydney office were closed leaving the Directors the core Perth market to concentrate on.

Over the following six years to 2008, Chameleon has cemented its reputation as a brand management specialist delivering innovative corporate communications via traditional and new media methods.

With a team of seventeen and a new suite of product brochures, Chameleon are living and breathing their own positioning statement of...

‘specialists in the cultivation, management and revitalisation of successful brands.’
